Associate, Audience Development
New York Public Radio seeks an enterprising, highly-efficient Audience Development Associate to join the Audience and Marketing team. This role will support audience growth across New York Public Radio brands – WNYC , WQXR , Gothamist and WNYC Studios – as well as promoting specific programming across NYPR brands, like Radiolab, On The Media, Aria Code, and The Brian Lehrer Show.
The ideal candidate is an emerging audience development or marketing professional who enjoys analytical thinking as well as creative problem-solving. They’ll be able to work independently, supporting a variety of projects and deadlines while also maintaining the collaborative spirit necessary to execute multi-faceted campaigns. A keen interest in understanding audience behavior through data analysis is a must, and they should be energized by the challenge of finding new, engaged listeners in a shifting digital landscape.
This role reports to the Director of Audience Development, and will work closely with colleagues on the audience and marketing teams as well as people across the organization – including content creators.
Responsibilities
Support audience growth for NYPR brands – WNYC, WNYC Studios, WQXR, Gothamist, and The Greene Space by:
- Executing audience development plans, including outreach, pitching, and organizing promotional swaps
- Supporting paid marketing plans and other marketing initiatives like media partnerships and events as necessary.
- Collecting, collating, and analyzing audience data.
- Analyzing performance of marketing channels, identify opportunities for improvement, and present insights to a variety of stakeholders across the organization.
- Help identify and maintain media partnerships with external organizations.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of our brand and show audiences through outreach, listening, research and other tools.
- Supporting the day-to-day audience development priorities, including development of creative, promos, and digital distribution plans.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant work experience based on the qualifications below
- Paid media experience including brand marketing and customer acquisition
- Experience growing audiences through audience development and marketing best practice
- Experience working with data, identifying and tracking KPIs, and helping to craft insights from that information
- Impeccable organization, attention to detail, project management, and prioritization skills.
- Fine-tuned communication skills, with demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and present information across different internal teams and external partners.
- Affinity for New York Public Radio; WNYC and/or WQXR content and mission
- A commitment to New York Public Radio’s mission .
- Experience in the audio field, namely broadcast radio, audiobooks, or podcasts a plus
Additional Information
This is a full-time role with a salary range of $65,000-$75,000 per year (plus a full benefits package). Salary offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and organizational pay equity. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between New York Public Radio and SAG-AFTRA.
This role operates in a hybrid capacity, with the ability to work from home 3 days per week. However, this role is based in New York City and is expected to work onsite at New York Public Radio’s SoHo headquarters at least 2 days per week.
