Love true crime? Have a passion for telling unique stories?

One of the UK’s most popular independent podcasts – with 4 million monthly downloads – is looking for an experienced researcher and writer to join the team.

Our podcast has millions of fans across the UK, US and the rest of the world. We’ve been on several sold-out international tours, and won several industry and listener awards.

We specialise in the darker side of society, politics and human nature – from the minds of serial killers to the leaders of the world’s most brutal regimes. We’re keen to give writers the freedom to pitch whatever they find fascinating, and take ownership of the story.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is an exceptional writer with strong editorial judgement
  • Has an eye for a great story and can pitch exciting content ideas
  • Can adopt our conversational tone of voice and write for audio
  • Can research quickly and effectively
  • Doesn’t shy away from difficult, controversial and nuanced conversations
  • Can manage deadlines and adapt to a varied schedule
  • Is self-motivated, energetic and organised
  • Understands the wider podcasting landscape
  • Has a grasp of SEO and social copywriting
  • Preferably has some experience in long-form features, or non-fiction scripting

The role is based in our office in London – we offer two work-from-home days per week.

The salary will be £32,000 per annum.

If you think you could be a great fit, please send a cover letter, CV and a sample of your writing to katie@redhandedpodcast.com by Wednesday 8th April.

Are you the right fit for this?

Audio Primes: The People Who Listen to Podcasts

Thursday, April 16th at 2PM EST

In this webinar, Sounds Profitable unveils Audio Primes, a new audience segment sponsored by RSS.com and drawn from The Podcast Landscape 2025 study. These are podcast consumers who listen to at least three-quarters of their content as audio, and they defy every stereotype you might have about them. We'll walk through who they are, how they consume media, what drives their remarkable loyalty, and why they function as the word-of-mouth engine of the entire podcast ecosystem. Join Tom Webster, Partner at Sounds Profitable, and Alberto Betella from RSS.com as they present original research you won't find anywhere else. Whether you sell ads, make shows, or build platforms, you'll leave with a clearer picture of the audience that matters most and a better understanding of what to do about it.
