ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an associate producer to work on various Pushkin shows and projects. The associate producer will play a critical production role from the earliest stages of research and development to ongoing production, and will be expected to multi-task accordingly. This position requires solid research and audio editing skills, a good nose for narrative, and an ability to keep contacts, calendars, files, and other production resources organized. The associate producer will work closely with other team members to create compelling, informative, and innovative programming that has become the hallmark of Pushkin projects. The position is based in New York, NY.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Story research and source generation
  • Finding and gathering archival materials
  • Interviewing and/or pre-interviewing sources
  • Writing prep docs and interview outlines Hosts
  • Cutting interviews
  • Coordinating and recording remote interviews and tapings
  • Field reporting, including gathering ambi and scene tape
  • Booking guests, stringers, and studios
  • Prepping for and attending table reads
  • Assembling rough mixes of episodes using Descript and ProTools
  • Attending and sometimes engineering studio recording sessions
  • Preparing scripts for legal review
  • Fact-checking or working with a fact-checker
  • Creating and maintaining production spreadsheets including show summaries, production schedules (airdates), and other key milestones
  • Lending general editorial feedback throughout the production process
  • Producing ads, promos, and other marketing materials
  • Attending creative calls with development and production teams and clients
  • Related responsibilities, as assigned

SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 2+ years of media and/or journalistic experience
  • A track record of great research and reporting, finding original sources and primary materials
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Highest standards for journalistic integrity and ethics
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline and work across geographically dispersed teams
  • Facility with ProTools and/or other audio editing software
