This cross-functional role demands strong organizational skills, a strategic mindset, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. Success in this position will be driven by effective team leadership, continuous process improvement, and deep expertise in ad technologies, platforms, and podcast ad operations.

Director Of Podcast Ad Operations Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead the Podcast Ad Operations team, supporting the execution of high-visibility campaigns across the S71 podcast and simulcast network. Manage campaign setup, trafficking, and troubleshooting, including resolution of complex ad delivery and technical issues such as third-party attribution pixels and platform integrations—ensuring minimal discrepancies and smooth execution.
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making by promoting best practices around data usage, measurement, and campaign performance, while staying current with emerging technologies, platforms, and industry trends that impact ad operations.
  • Implement and enforce scalable processes that support efficiency, continuous improvement, and clear documentation. Regularly evaluate workflows, tools, and team performance to enable long-term growth and operational excellence.
  • Prioritize and delegate daily tasks to ensure team alignment with campaign milestones and revenue goals. Motivate, coach, and develop team members to meet and exceed expectations—overseeing hiring, onboarding, and career development initiatives.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional communication and coordination with sales, account management, and podcast production teams to align on client strategy and execution. Support sales and leadership in client-facing meetings and presentations to maximize performance and revenue.

  • Assist in refining sales materials and go-to-market strategies by leveraging internal data, team feedback, and industry benchmarks. Collaborate closely with sales and campaign teams to help achieve and grow ad revenue targets through strategic support and innovation.
  • Ensure campaign compliance with internal, legal, ethical, and platform-specific guidelines and timelines. Oversee maintenance of internal documents such as the Ad Revenue Tracker, Brand Category lists, and related operational reports—including the Salesforce month-end close process.
  • Partner with executive leadership on revenue forecasting, media strategy, and the identification of new opportunities and formats within the podcast and audio advertising ecosystem. Deliver clear, actionable reporting to leadership, highlighting the performance and impact of podcast advertising initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, business, communication or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years of experience in digital ad operations, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or team management role; podcast or audio ad experience required.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of VAST, HTML, rich media ad formats and pixels.
  • Experience with programmatic audio platforms such as Spotify Audience Network, AdsWizz, and Voxnest, including optimization for yield and performance
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with a strong emphasis on process, quality control, and delivery
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in forecasting, inventory management, and campaign performance reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successful cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Account Management, Product, and Executive teams
