About the job
This is a full-time, in-person role based in Los Angeles.
Overview
Almost Friday Media is looking for a Podcast & Video Producer to join our fast-growing, video-first podcast team. This role is built for someone who thrives in a creator-led, collaborative environment, has a strong editorial and visual POV, and brings a mix of production experience, post skills, and social media instincts. You’ll be embedded in every part of the creative process, from pre-production through posting and expected to contribute both behind the scenes and, occasionally, on mic.
What You’ll Do
Creative & Editorial
- Collaborate with talent and producers to develop concepts, episode segments, and guest ideas.
- Track great off-the-cuff moments and identify potential short-form content.
- Confidently participate in live recordings when a different perspective or voice adds value, fans enjoy the full-room dynamic.
- You’re not afraid to speak your mind. You don’t need the spotlight, but also aren’t afraid of it.
Production & Post
- Lead planning and production logistics for in-studio podcast shoots.
- Oversee camera operation, lighting adjustments, and live audio monitoring/recording during sessions.
- Edit full episodes and short-form clips using Adobe Premiere Pro (color, audio sync, captions, QC).
- Maintain the studio space and visual setup, with attention to composition, exposure, and brand aesthetics.
- Occasionally assist with thumbnail creation or After Effects templates.
- Monitor audio levels and visual framing in real time, adjusting exposure and placement of props or products on set. Be attuned to cues from talent during taping — whether they’re prompting a search, hinting at a segment pivot, or going off-script in a way that could spark a great clip.
- Adhere to a brand/advertising schedule.
- Lead the ad-copy and recording process and ad placement for the podcast.
Social & Publishing
- Deliver and post 6+ short-form video clips per week across platforms (TikTok, IG Reels, YouTube Shorts).
- Manage daily posting, IG grid and Stories, and community interactions.
- Monitor performance and inbound messages to help inform content strategy and engagement.
- Coordinate with internal teams for branded content needs and promotional rollout.
- Own the full social distribution pipeline — don’t wait for the talent to post or promote. Be proactive and confident in managing calendars, copywriting, and uploading to the right channels at the right time.
Who You Are
- Creative and Proactive: You spot moments others miss, bring your own spin to edits, and aren’t afraid to try something unexpected.
- Technically Skilled: You’re fluent in Adobe Premiere, familiar with basic camera ops and audio tools, and have a good eye for visuals.
- Social-Savvy: You understand what works on short-form platforms and know how to package clips that perform.
- Organized and Agile: You can keep multiple timelines moving, adapt to changing shoot schedules, and handle the occasional chaos with calm.
- Collaborative But Assertive: You know how to communicate clearly with talent and take the lead when needed, without overstepping.
- Comfortable on Mic (Over Time): While not mainly an on-air role, you’ll be a part of the studio environment and occasionally part of the conversation.
- Fan-Oriented & Format-Literate: You watch and listen to creator-led shows and understand what resonates with an audience — from clip structure to community interaction. You’re plugged into what works on YouTube, Reels, Shorts, and TikTok, and know how to apply it.
