SVP, Programmatic

About the Role
The SVP of Programmatic will lead the company’s programmatic revenue strategy, operations, partnerships, and product collaboration. This executive will own the growth and evolution of programmatic monetization across streaming audio, podcast inventory, and emerging digital audio formats.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in programmatic advertising (including PMP, open exchange, header bidding, and addressable audio) with strong commercial acumen, operational leadership, and a strategic vision for the future of automated audio advertising.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the long-term programmatic revenue strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
- Drive innovation in digital audio monetization, including streaming, podcasts, connected devices, and in-car platforms.
- Identify emerging opportunities in programmatic audio, contextual targeting, data partnerships, and identity solutions.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to enhance programmatic capabilities, SSP integrations, and yield optimization tools.
Revenue & Growth
- Own and scale programmatic revenue across open exchanges and private marketplaces (PMP).
- Build pricing, packaging, and go-to-market strategies for audio inventory.
- Optimize yield and fill rates across inventory sources.
- Expand demand relationships with DSPs, trading desks, agencies, and brand-direct programmatic buyers.
Partnerships & Ecosystem
- Lead relationships with SSPs and DSPs in market
- Negotiate strategic partnerships to maximize monetization and access to premium demand.
- Ensure alignment with industry standards (IAB, OpenRTB, audio ad specifications).
Operations & Enablement
- Oversee programmatic operations, ad tech stack, and inventory management.
- Implement best practices in forecasting, floor pricing, and deal structuring.
- Ensure seamless collaboration between programmatic, direct sales, ad operations, and analytics teams.
- Develop internal training and enablement to increase programmatic fluency across revenue teams.
Data, Measurement & Insights
- Champion advanced targeting capabilities including first-party data, contextual signals, and audience segmentation.
- Lead data-driven decision-making for optimization and revenue growth.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing programmatic team (sales, operations, strategy).
- Establish KPIs and performance frameworks.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years in digital advertising, with at least 7+ years in programmatic leadership.
- Proven track record scaling programmatic revenue in digital media (audio experience strongly preferred).
- Deep knowledge of DSPs, SSPs, ad exchanges, header bidding, and auction mechanics.
- Experience working with agencies, trading desks, and brand programmatic teams.
- Demonstrated success leading large cross-functional teams.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of programmatic infrastructure, OpenRTB, deal IDs, and identity frameworks.
- Familiarity with audio ad formats (streaming audio, dynamic ad insertion for podcasts, CTV audio integrations).
- Experience with yield management platforms and revenue optimization tools.
- Knowledge of privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and cookieless solutions.
