Acast Introduces Groundbreaking Podcast Series Black History: Unveiled across 7 Key Markets

For the first time, Acast launches a globally-targeted cross promotional campaign in countries with strong connections to the Black diaspora.

October 17, 2023: Acast, the world’s largest independent podcast company, and Amat Levin, a renowned Swedish journalist and author, has taken the ‘Black History’ initiative to new heights after a huge success in Sweden. What began as an Instagram account focusing on bite-sized pan-African history four years ago has evolved into a powerful platform for untold stories. After the successful launch of his book with the same name, and a nomination for The August Literature Prize in fall 2022, Levin has now ventured into podcasting. And for the first time, Acast is launching a globally-targeted cross promotional campaign spanning seven markets, through audio ads on Acast’s platform. With these tailored promotional audio messages, Acast’s objective is to captivate several million listeners who share deep connections with the Black diaspora.

Amat Levin, author and podcast host said: “My podcast ‘Black History: Unveiled”, has drawn hundreds of thousands of listens since its inception, unveiling captivating stories that shine a light on historical events and figures often overshadowed in the history books. Some people question why history is important. They might feel like history, especially Black or African, has nothing to do with them. But how we write and interpret historical events directly influences how we understand ourselves and our present time. Understanding history makes it easier to understand our world today. With this expansion, my goal is to illuminate the often marginalized history of Black people worldwide, promoting a global understanding with the invaluable support of Acast.”

Teaming up with Acast, with its wide reach of 430 million monthly listens, Amat Levin is ready to take ‘Black History: Unveiled’ worldwide. In October, Acast is releasing a broad campaign targeting multiple markets—the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France—regions rich in unexplored Black community history and heritage.

And in the US, there’s a strong demand for this type of content. Edison Research’s Black Podcast Listener Report reveals that an impressive 75% of Black monthly podcast listeners actively seek content focusing on Black stories and perspectives. Furthermore, 57% are eager to listen more if there were more podcasts with Black stories. These findings highlight a strong demand for authentic Black narratives in podcasting, offering a significant opportunity for diverse storytelling and this launch specifically.
