NEW YORK, NY- July 30, 2024 | Barometer, a contextual AI engine redefining the legacy of contextual targeting and brand suitability, today is thrilled to announce their new US and General election capabilities are now live! 49% of the world’s citizens are voting in elections this year which has resulted in political discussions reaching all time highs across content that has not always been political. This has motivated Barometer to release new analysis capabilities to empower advertisers to successfully vet and include more political content. Alongside the existing Barometer Brand Standard Categories, we now include the US Elections and General Elections as brand standard categories.
These capabilities offer comprehensive analysis and granular data at both the show and episodic level about how the content discusses elections. This new capability simplifies the process of distinguishing election related content from the broader politics genre or Debated Sensitive Social Issues category, to offer a focused view of election discussion. This feature delivers insights into the topics and candidates discussed, the sentiment about those candidates, party valence, the percentage of election-focused discussion and more. In turn, this more nuanced approach allows advertisers to easily segment political content and articulate what they are comfortable with. For example, perhaps an advertiser wants to avoid discussions of wars or other specific debated sensitive social issues but they are more tolerant of domestic social issues discussions. Alternatively, perhaps an advertiser may want to target or avoid discussion of a particular candidate.
This sentiment analysis combines conversions using various and continuously updating words, phrases, and utterances that are associated with a political party. As our sentiment analysis continuously evolves, if a host says a candidate or politicians name in different variations, our AI will be able to associate these phrases in a positive, negative, or neutral valence and provide across political parties. This is similar to our Host Intelligence™ capabilities where you can mine for references to a host, as this capability allows you to easily mine for references to political figures in the content itself.
Barometer’s new general election capabilities leverage our expertise in transcribing podcasts across a diverse range of languages and dialects! Through this transcription process, our AI technology is able to continuously improve its ability to analyze current political events as they unfold. Our general election capabilities combined with our U.S. specific election capabilities are set to revolutionize the ability for advertisers and publishers to understand political speech in Podcasts and across long form audio platforms.
