A Channel 4 News Production

London, Monday 8th September 2025 – Channel 4 News today announces the launch of TrumpWorld, a major new video podcast fronted by Anushka Asthana and Matt Frei, with the first episode dropping on Wednesday 10th September.

TrumpWorld lands just a week ahead of Trump’s second state visit to the UK and will take audiences beyond the churn of daily headlines and into the heart of America’s political thrill ride. The series will make sense of a new world order taking shape in real time, where the leader of the free world may not actually believe in the free world, and where a dangerously polarised electorate faces a stark new reality.

Each week, Matt from the global frontline and Anushka in Washington will decode not just what Donald Trump wants us to talk about, but what he doesn’t. The ‘vodcast’ combines sharp headline analysis, heavyweight interviews and audience questions from both sides of the Atlantic.

With YouTube now the UK’s second most-watched media service for news, Channel 4 News has established itself as a leading digital newsroom, with nearly 4 million subscribers and 1.8 billion annual views on the platform. TrumpWorld is the latest step in Channel 4 News’ ambitious video-first podcast strategy, created to reach young and international audiences with trusted, long-form journalism in the spaces where they already turn to for news.

Matt Frei is one of Britain’s most distinguished broadcast journalists, while TrumpWorld marks Anushka Asthana’s first major project as Channel 4 News’ recently appointed US Editor. Together, they will bring decades of reporting experience, from Washington to Westminster, to navigate the sharp turns of this Trump term.

Anushka Asthana, US Editor of Channel 4 News, said:

“Moving to Washington to begin my role as US Editor has meant arriving in the eye of the Trump 2.0 storm. I love the depth and clarity that podcasting offers and I’m looking forward to working alongside Matt to make sense of the impact of Trump’s second term.”

Matt Frei, Europe Editor of Channel 4 News, said:

“I’ve covered US politics for more than two decades, but rarely have times felt so turbulent. Anushka and I will bring the very best Channel 4 News has to offer on TrumpWorld, breaking down the consequences of this Trump era for the rest of the world. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.”

Esme Wren, Editor of Channel 4 News, said:

“We are delighted to launch this new transatlantic podcast with two heavyweights of political journalism. Channel 4 News has a long history of delivering outstanding coverage of US politics. Our success on YouTube shows how trusted journalism can thrive in the digital age. TrumpWorld builds on that momentum, joining our growing podcast slate in a bold, video-first format designed to reach younger and global audiences.”

TrumpWorld launches on Wednesday 10th September across YouTube and all major audio platforms.
