Dr. Tristin Engels is a Clinical Forensic Psychologist, educational influencer, and author, known for her expertise in the criminal justice system. She is the granddaughter of Louis R. Vitullo, co-creator of the first sexual assault evidence collection kit, commonly known as the rape kit. Inspired by her grandfather’s contributions to forensic science, Dr. Engels has dedicated her career to treating offenders and addressing behavioral patterns to reduce recidivism. Her book, The Power of Truth: The Life of Louis R. Vitullo and the Legacy of the Rape Kit, honors his legacy, with proceeds supporting efforts to end the backlog of untested rape kits nationwide. Dr. Engels has worked in the criminal justice system since 2010 and earned her doctorate in Clinical Forensic Psychology in 2013.
