Our Black Gay Diaspora Podcast’s Season 5 will premiere on April 16, 2025, with Creator and Host Erick Taylor Woodby’s interview with Vernal Scott, an Award-winning British diversity and inclusion public servant with over four decades of experience. Scott’s upcoming memoir, UK Black, is due for release this spring.
Our Black Gay Diaspora Podcast is a top-ranked biweekly platform whose uniqueness centers on conversations where guests share about who they are in their countries and professions. In over 100 episodes, 25 countries and 42 professions have been showcased. As a podcast producer, writer, and digital nomad, Woodby is committed to highlighting a population often overlooked by mainstream, LGBTQIA, and Black media outlets.
“I remember when I recorded the very first interview in late March 2021, during my visit to Liverpool, England,” Woodby said. “Since then, I have recorded interviews in other cities in the UK, Sweden, my home country of the U.S., South Africa, and Botswana.”
The podcast celebrates and promotes positive and diverse portrayals of Black LGBTQIA citizens. Recent guests include Canadian Academic and Writer Rinaldo Walcott (Ep. 105), American Singer-songwriter Shelley Nicole (Ep. 104), Brothers of the Desert Co-Founder Tim Vincent (Ep. 103), and Aurora Krotoa Moses, South African founder and CEO of Aurora Kaleidoscope Movement (Ep. 102).
“I sense that I’ve found my purpose. I love to interview while creating an archive of the accomplishments of Black LGBTQ+ global citizens,” Woodby said in an editorial for the English-language Afro-Swedish publication, Krull Magazine.
