Realm and FilmNation Entertainement Announce Genre-bending Science Podcast “HyperThetical”

Realm & FilmNation Entertainment

April 9, 2024

NEW YORK, April 09, 2024 – Realm, the world’s fastest growing independent podcast network today announced the launch of HyperThetical, a science fiction anthology podcast from FilmNation Entertainment in association with Transmitter Media. Previously behind a paywall, HyperThetical is now available to all podcast listeners, featuring additional interview episodes with more insights into the speculative scenarios explored in its stories. With this deal, Realm is now the exclusive advertising sales representative for the show.

Hosted by Kerry Bishé, known for Halt and Catch Fire, HyperThetical is a genre-bending science podcast from the producers that brought you Arrival, The Big Sick, and Promising Young Woman. The future is full of epic “what ifs’ ‘: What if we could read minds? What if a hostile attack took down our nation’s power grid? What if the supervolcano at Yellowstone erupted? In every episode, Bishé asks one of these questions and explores it in two ways – through speculative science fiction and through insight from the world’s most brilliant scientists. The result is an innovative show featuring real facts and science, bringing together education and imagination. Time travel into a near-future where our biggest “what ifs?”’ become “now whats?”.

Alyssa Martino, SVP of Podcasting at FilmNation Entertainment, said, “This was the first podcast FilmNation produced and remains one of our most ambitious, innovative projects. We’re delighted that Kerry and Realm were both on board to re-release the podcast, including new bonus episodes with 8 brilliant scientists.”

Host Kerry Bishé said: “I’m so grateful to my partners at FilmNation for creating the HyperThetical podcast where we investigate all kinds of fascinating questions with the help of scientists and artists alike. Combining these disciplines is a personal passion of mine and I couldn’t be more excited to share the results!”

Molly Barton, CEO & Co-Founder of Realm, said, “We’re thrilled to partner with FilmNation on this new release. With its thought-provoking explorations of the future, HyperThetical is an exciting addition to Realm network—many of Realm’s listeners are drawn to storytelling that span the boundary between reality and imagination.”
