Audioboom (BOOM) Q2 Trading Update

Podcast publisher Audioboom has published their Q2 earnings figures. I’ve linked to the London Stock Exchange official document for those who like direct numbers, but highlights include: Q2’s EBITDA profit reached $1.2 million USD, Q2 revenue increasing 5% year-over-year, and the success of programmatic ad marketplace Showcase (revenue for which increased 16% y-o-y).

Creator marketing has the reach — CMOs want the rigor by Seb Joseph

According to an industry-wide census of marketing and procurement professionals commissioned by Billion Dollar Boy, 34% of marketers in the U.S. are investing between $1 million and $3 million on content creator marketing. Brands like Heineken are integrating creators into both content app marketing and putting them in traditional TV ads. With this boom comes a transition from basic affiliate marketing to proper brand partnerships, with agencies leaning towards hybrid compensation schemes combining a base fee with further performance-based compensation tied to CPM (cost per thousand impressions) targets.

This is the rare bright spot in a tough Hollywood job market by Wendy Lee and Kaitlyn Huamani

The LA Times covers the thriving industry of filming professional-grade YouTube videos, social media footage, and podcasts. YouTube channel-turned-production-company Dhar Mann Studios has a complement of 75 full-time employees with 15 more slated to be added this year. Pave Studios is looking to add 16 full-time workers to its staff of 67 contractors and employees. As YouTube gains more traction on smart TVs and becomes “television” for many consumers, so too grows the production requirements and crews needed to make video podcasts/episodic video content happen at scale.
