The Podcast Movement Archive is Live

In the interest of empowering the podcast industry and sharing insights beyond the walls of a convention center, Podcast Movement has launched an official archive channel on YouTube. In addition to the existing Podcast Movement YouTube presence, a second channel has been launched to act as a repository for recordings of sessions from current and future Podcast Movement events. Panels from the Dallas conference in August are now available.

83rd Golden Globes Eligibility and Consideration Rules.

After not seeing much coverage online, Kelly&Kelly co-founder Chris Kelly has dug up the rules for what the Golden Globes qualifies as a podcast that can be considered for the next round of awards. Eligible formats/genres include narrative, scripted, unscripted, hybrid, educational or informative, news or current affairs, and entertainment or pop culture. Podcasts must be original, so repackaged/rebroadcasted material from other forms of media are not eligible. Eligible podcasts must have released at least six episodes between January 1st and September 30th of this year. The pool of eligible podcasts is 25 shows, decided by a proprietary Luminate Data methodology to “objectively evaluate podcasts” based on audience reach, financial metrics, and platform visibility. Once Luminate decides what the “top” 25 podcasts from that 9 month period are, the producers will be invited to submit their shows to the Globes.

Shifting Ad Dollars to Podcasting Increases Campaign Reach

This week at Podcast Upfront, new Nielsen Podcast Fusion powered by Edison Research data debuted in Nielsen Media Impact demonstrating the wider reach of podcast advertising. In an example of a one month campaign with a $5 million budget, the starting month shows reach among adults 18-44 is at 60% with just 1% of the budget going to podcast spend. The following month funds were reallocated from broadcast and cable TV to give podcasting 21% of the funding. With no additional budget put into the campaign, reach lifted to 76% with the same demographic.

Prebid HTTP GET Integration/Server Requirements Public Comment Period

Open source header bidding organization Prebid has opened a document with a draft for their HTTP GET integration and Prebid server requirements for public comment. The proposal includes support for audio and podcasting, allowing podcast ad server to Prebid via a VAST endpoint. The industry at large is invited to comment, regardless of whether they are a member of Prebid.
