WHAT: Today, Crooked Media announced Still Counting, a new weekly podcast hosted by data journalists and former FiveThirtyEight Politics hosts Nate Silver, Clare Malone and Galen Druke. Each week, they’ll dig into the latest in politics and polling to break down what’s happening, why, and what we can reasonably infer about what might happen next. They will be covering everything from elections to betting markets to AI. Expect rigorous analysis, a few hot takes, but no spin and no false sense of certainty.

WHEN: The official trailer launched today, August 25th. The first episode will premiere September 9th on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes will drop every Wednesday.

WHY: Still Counting is here to make sense of the data shaping our world in a way that’s smart, accessible, and engaging. The hosts bring a no bullshit, clear-eyed approach to the wonky ins & outs of politics without losing the humor and personality that make the conversation fun. It’s a podcast for the politics-obsessed and the data nerds, along with anyone who wants to understand the trends shaping our society & politics.

Nate Silver founded FiveThirtyEight and was its editor-in-chief until 2023. He now writes Silver Bulletin on Substack, covering politics, sports, artificial intelligence, and risk. His most recent book, On the Edge: The Art of Risking Everything, is a New York Times bestseller on professional risk-takers — poker players, venture capitalists, and the AI labs now wagering on the shape of the next century. His first book, The Signal and the Noise, was one of The Wall Street Journal’s ten best nonfiction works of the year.

Clare Malone is a staff writer at The New Yorker covering media and politics. She is writing a book on the MAHA movement and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. She received the 2025 Mirror Award for her essays and reporting. She previously wrote for FiveThirtyEight, where she reported on class, race, and electoral politics, covering the 2016 and 2020 Presidential campaigns and appearing as a weekly fixture on its popular podcast. Her writing has also appeared in New York, The Atlantic, GQ, The Columbia Journalism Review, and Harper’s.

Galen Druke is the founder and host of GD POLITICS, a leading nonpartisan podcast and Substack that explains politics with curiosity, rigor, data, and humor. Previously, he hosted and produced the “FiveThirtyEight Politics” podcast, covering American elections for nearly a decade. His reporting and analysis have appeared on ABC News, the BBC, NPR, MS NOW, and more. His award-winning work includes “The Gerrymandering Project,” runner-up for Data Journalism Awards’ Investigation of the Year.
