British Podcast Awards announces 2024 nominations with Lily Allen & Miquita Oliver, Gary Lineker, Rob Burrow CBE, Emily Maitlis, Annie Macmanus and Gabby Logan amongst the nominees.

Thursday 25th July, London, 2024 – The nominees for the 2024 British Podcast Awards have been announced.

The winners of the coveted awards will be revealed at a star-studded awards show on Thursday 26th September at HERE at Outernet London, where a win propels podcasts into the spotlight. The evening will bring together the podcast community to celebrate the outstanding work being produced and the teams behind it.

Comedian Marcus Brigstocke will be hosting the event, with winners taking to the stage with celebrity presenters. Tickets are on sale now via the BPAs website.

This year, over 180 nominees across 25 categories will be vying to win one of the coveted trophies.

Miss Me? with Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver, Springleaf with James Acaster, and Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake with Kathy Burke are all up for Best Entertainment. The Spotlight Award, honouring big hitters with over 100,000 downloads per episode, helping to bring the medium into the mainstream, will see Help I Sexted My Boss, The News Agents, and The Traitors: Uncloaked with Ed Gamble go head-to-head.

DJ and Broadcaster Annie Macmanus is nominated for two separate podcasts, BBC Sounds’ Sidetracked with co-host Nick Grimshaw in the Best Arts & Culture category and for Best Interview podcast with her solo venture Changes. Other notable nominations include the late Rob Burrow CBE for the Rising Star award.

The judging panel, co-chaired by Leanne Alie and Hannah Maguire and Suruthi Bala of RedHanded, totalled over 11 days of listening from 1000+ entries; with so many entries, these nominations come with real prestige.

The British Podcast Awards have created superstars in the podcasting world. Previous winners such as Dear Daughter, George The Poet and Brown Girls Do It Too saw huge uplifts in listens and profile following a win, and have signed big deals with platforms.

In addition to this, The Listeners’ Choice category which represents the only British Podcast Award decided by public voters rather than by judges’ decision, is now open. Listeners can cast their vote on the BPA’s website at britishpodcastawards.com/voting. Voting closes on the 29th August.

Excitingly, nominees will be ‘up in lights’ all day on the screens at HERE at Outernet in Tottenham Court Road on Monday 29th July. Apple Podcasts and Spotify will also be featuring the shortlist in a special round-up on their platforms, introducing the nominated podcasts to even wider audiences.

The Rising Stars shortlisted qualify for one free ticket as part of the BPA’s bursary scheme supported by its partner YouTube.

There’s also a bursary scheme, supported by partner Wondery, available to shortlisted nominees. This is particularly aimed at podcast creators within the independent sector to ensure all parts of the podcast community are able to participate. Email britishpodcastawards@haymarket.com to apply.
