Rebecca Sheir and Eric Shimelonis launch highly anticipated family storytelling series with three-episode premiere on September 1
WEST STOCKBRIDGE, MA — Sept. 1, 2026 — Storyteller Rebecca Sheir and composer Eric Shimelonis – real-life couple and creators/producers of the acclaimed Circle Round podcast – announce the launch of their new independent storytelling podcast, Lions & Legends, with a three-episode premiere on September 1, 2026.
Designed for kids, families, and story lovers of all ages, the new weekly podcast features fun, fantastical retellings of myths, legends, folktales, and fables from across the globe. Each 15- to 25-minute episode is fully scored by Shimelonis, and utilizes his extensive collection of instruments from around the world with additional music performed by a world-class ensemble of symphony orchestra players.
“After telling 300+ stories together, Eric and I are excited to spread our artistic wings and create something fresh yet familiar,” says host/writer Rebecca Sheir, a former public radio reporter and host with nearly a decade of family audio expertise. “The timeless tales on Lions and Legends are the ultimate vehicle for teaching timely values and bringing wisdom, comfort, and magic to our topsy-turvy world.”
Lions and Legends kicks off today on Apple Podcasts and other streaming platforms with three episodes: a Cambodian myth about the first thunder and lightning; a Swahili folktale about a dueling lion and hare; and a Polish legend about a fierce dragon and cunning shoemaker, starring Greeking Out and History Snacks host Kenny Curtis. Sheir and Shimelonis are also introducing a line of custom Lions and Legends merch, plus a membership club offering ad-free episodes and other exclusive perks.
