“Hidden Brain” and PRX Announce A New Public Radio Partnership
The renowned social sciences program hosted by Shankar Vedantam will be distributed by PRX nationwide on public radio
July 21, 2026––The renowned social sciences program Hidden Brain today announced a new public radio partnership with Peabody Award-winning public media organization PRX. With distribution from PRX beginning October 1, 2026, the weekly public radio show hosted by acclaimed science journalist Shankar Vedantam and made by the independent production team at Hidden Brain Media will continue to air uninterrupted across the United States.
“I’m delighted that Hidden Brain will join PRX and its portfolio of innovative and beloved radio programs,” said Vedantam. “We’re excited to continue to work with the many stations that carry Hidden Brain, and to collaborate with PRX on new ways to serve our broadcast listeners and the public media community.”
Why do we feel stuck? How can we become more creative? What can we do to improve our relationships? Diving into these questions of human behavior, Hidden Brain helps curious listeners understand themselves and the world around them. Recent episodes have explored the science of inspiration, the psychology of secrets and self-disclosure, and new ways of thinking about depression. Guided by Vedantam, the show features rigorous, science-based insights from anthropologists, psychologists, historians and philosophers, and helps listeners comprehend their world and the unconscious influences that shape their lives.
Shankar Vedantam’s work has been honored by the Edward R. Murrow Awards, the Association for the Advancement of Science, and others. He’s served as a columnist for The Washington Post and is the author of the New York Times national bestseller The Hidden Brain: How Our Unconscious Minds Elect Presidents, Control Markets, Wage Wars, and Save Our Lives. Vedantam has also served as a social science correspondent for NPR, which has served as the distributor of Hidden Brain to date.
Resonating with millions of listeners, the Hidden Brain radio show airs on more than 400 public radio stations coast to coast. The podcast is distributed by SiriusXM. Hidden Brain is also currently on tour across cities and states nationwide, with upcoming live shows in California, Colorado, Vermont, Virginia, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Oklahoma. Previous stops have included Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and Washington, D.C.
