New York, NY (April 7, 2026) — Envisioning a better world feels more essential (and more impossible) than ever. And it’s not something we can do alone. With Multitude’s newest member show, Dreaming Against the Machine, hosted by journalist and astrophysicist Dr. Adam Becker, we can work towards that goal of imagining better futures.

Dr. Becker has spent the last several years examining and debunking Silicon Valley billionaires’ visions for the future in his critically acclaimed book More Everything Forever. After that experience, he’s interested in finding hope in the darkness of the current political moment. Each week on Dreaming Against the Machine, Becker and guests will explore ideas about how to realistically create better and more inclusive futures.

“The public conversation about the future is dominated by the dreams of tech oligarchs and their overly literal readings of science fiction,” Becker says. “Setting the terms of the public conversation about the future carries political power, and we can’t cede that power to these nihilistic visions promoted by the ultra-wealthy. To push back, we need to envision feasible futures that we actually want.”

Dreaming Against the Machine is the latest in Multitude’s growing lineup of member shows, which are independently owned by their hosts and cooperatively managed by the 8-year-old podcast collective. Becker also becomes Multitude’s second astrophysicist host, joining Dr. Moiya McTier (Pale Blue Pod, Exolore) in using scientific expertise to build better worlds. Fellow scholar-podcasters at Multitude include Dr. Matthew Gabriele (American Medieval), Dr. Claire Aubin (This Guy Sucked), and Dr. Deboki Chakravarti and Dr. Sam Jones (Tiny Matters).

“Earnest, entertaining, and hopeful conversations are what Multitude does best,” says Amanda McLoughlin, founder and CEO of Multitude. “Adam is well-practiced at helping non-scientists understand the forces that make up our world. He’s also hilarious, with smart and creative friends that we can’t wait to welcome onto the show.”

The trailer for Dreaming Against the Machine, hosted by Adam Becker and produced by Nick Carissimi, is available to listen to now in all podcast apps (Apple, Spotify, Amazon). Episodes begin releasing weekly on April 14, 2026. Adam is available to follow on Bluesky, and more information about Multitude’s podcast collective and production services can be found at multitudeshows.com.

Dreaming up a better future, together.
