September 3, 2026 — Airwave, the leading podcast network for the “constantly curious” listener, today announced the appointment of John Garbo as Vice President of Podcast Sales.
John Garbo began selling podcast advertising in 2012, well before the medium became a cornerstone of modern marketing. Over the past decade-plus, he has built an exceptional track record at some of the industry’s most influential publishers, including PodcastOne, Stitcher, and SiriusXM, earning a reputation as one of the most respected, knowledgeable, and trusted sellers in the space.
A proud Ohio State alumnus and devoted father, John will draw on his deep expertise, enduring relationships, and pioneering spirit to lead Airwave’s efforts across the West Coast and beyond. He will be a major contributor to the company’s continued expansion and future success. Few people in this industry are known by a single name, and Garbo tops that list.
Airwave’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Brand Partnerships, Charles Dannison, said, “John was at the very top of our list of seasoned industry leaders we wanted on our team. He is a true sales partner whose experience spans every kind of advertising relationship. From performance and brand partnerships to programmatic, Garbo brings the leadership, credibility, and deep industry knowledge that set him apart. We’re incredibly excited to have John Garbo championing Airwave as we enter this next phase of growth together!”
“I’ve always believed the best advertising adds to the audience experience and leaves listeners genuinely interested in learning more about the partner,” said Garbo. “I’m thrilled to join Airwave and help ensure that advertisers, agencies, and the broader podcast community understand what this company represents and the tremendous value it delivers, for creators and advertisers alike.”
Airwave is rapidly expanding its network’s direct-sold and programmatic efforts in anticipation of taking ad sales fully in-house ahead of 2027.
