Lemonada Media, the award-winning podcast network that makes life suck less, today announced Lemonada Books — a new imprint and co-development partnership with Gallery Books, a division of Simon & Schuster.
Launched in 2019, Lemonada has created hit original series including WISER THAN ME with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, which was named Apple’s 2023 Show of the Year; THE PINK HOUSE with Sam Smith, which launched to #1 in Arts on the Apple Podcast charts; and the #1 narrative true-crime series BLIND PLEA, among more than 50 shows encompassing a wide range of subjects, including society and culture, finance, and health and wellness.
Lemonada Books will debut its first list, with two books based on highly successful podcasts:
FAIL BETTER, hosted by acclaimed actor, director, and New York Times bestselling author David Duchovny (Bucky F*cking Dent, The Reservoir), features honest conversations with notable guests about failure. Duchovny questions the façade of success and fame to reveal how setbacks and disappointments can enlighten the human experience.
LAST DAY, hosted by Lemonada co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Stephanie Wittels Wachs, explores the moments that change us, fundamentally and forever. Stephanie and Jessica’s shared experience of losing their brothers to opioid overdoses inspired the company’s smash hit, which is now in its fourth season. The book will focus on Last Day’s first season and the opioids crisis then and now.
“Our mission has been to make life suck less at scale, focusing on podcasts but leveraging the work in audio into other formats. We are so thrilled to be able to expand our mission and reach with Simon & Schuster and the Gallery team in this new way. Lemonada Books certainly will improve readers’ lives in a variety of ways,” shares Lemonada’s CEO and co-founder, Jessica Cordova Kramer. “I can’t wait to read what Stephanie and David create as the first two books in the imprint and to work to expand the catalog with the brilliant team at Simon & Schuster,” she adds.
Simon & Schuster CEO Jonathan Karp noted, “Podcasting is a vibrant source for storytelling, enlightening conversation, entertainment and helpful information – and Lemonada is a proven leader in producing the podcasts that listeners most want to hear. We look forward to working with them to create books that will expand their highly popular podcasts into the time-tested medium of books, bringing them to readers everywhere.”
Additional announcements regarding publication dates for FAIL BETTER and LAST DAY, as well as new titles, will be made in the coming months.
