Jersey City, NJ – New podcast production house Lengthy Tangent launches debut audio fiction production, Peculiar Radio, a serialized comedy-drama about a small town public radio station, and the people at its heart.
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 93.3 WSCP-FM The Scoop rules the airwaves in the city of Peculiar Springs… until 15 seconds of dead air threatens their livelihoods, their community standing, and the station itself. Follow the crew as they bumble in the footsteps of their station founder on a ride that takes them to the most peculiar corners of the Springs. There’s bills to pay, though listenership is down, and the deed to the station is nowhere to be found. They have to grease the wheels of politics, though they skewered them on air. And they have to do all this before the end of the month. Cryptic clues, caffeine and raccoons; old-timey radio shows, geriatrics chasing UFOs. Join Bardo, Mallory, Mack, and Tamryn as they try to make sense of it all, following a trail throughout their fair city to save the station… and themselves.
Peculiar Radio is the first podcast from newly launched production house and educational incubator Lengthy Tangent, a company built on showcasing emerging talent in the podcast space. Lengthy Tangent partners early-career audio fiction creators, from voice actors to directors to sound engineers, with professionals already working in those fields to train and collaborate on high-quality original audio programming. The collective currently has over 35 members, in 15 states and 5 countries, all working together remotely.
Speaking on the series premiere, Executive Producer Alyssa Esteban stated, “After two and a half years of development, we are absolutely thrilled to bring ‘Peculiar Radio’ to podcast feeds this August! In February 2021, we founded what would become Lengthy Tangent on the belief that education, experience, and opportunity could be at the forefront of professional production. We imagined that hands-on learning could launch not just new passions, but new careers in audio. I’m excited for you to hear what the cast and crew has created. Episode 1, “Dead Air,” will premiere on podcatchers and at lengthytangent.com on August 21st, with subsequent episodes releasing bi-weekly. In addition, bonus episodes are being released daily in the lead-up to the first episode’s premiere. The first three episodes are:
