Marking 125 years since the classic Sherlock Holmes novel first gripped Victorian readers in The Strand magazine, the series premieres April 27 on the Noiser podcast feed Sherlock Holmes Short Stories
London, UK — 16th April 2026 — Noiser today announced the coming launch of The Hound of the Baskervilles, a nine-part podcast series with original sound design that presents the gripping Sherlock Holmes story as narrated by celebrated actor Hugh Bonneville. The first episode premieres April 27.
This latest production from Noiser presents Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles as it was created: nine serialised episodes, each ending on a cliffhanger, mirroring the original instalments in which readers first encountered the story in The Strand magazine at the turn of the century. In the 125 years since it was published, the novel has been adapted for film, television, stage, and more in countless forms. Noiser’s new production restores the story’s original nine-part structure for a podcast audience for the first time.
Hugh Bonneville, host of Sherlock Holmes Short Stories and narrator of The Hound of the Baskervilles, said: “There’s a reason this story has never left us, and Arthur Conan Doyle knew exactly what he was doing when he wrote it to land in nine parts. Getting to bring that structure back, to let listeners feel those cliffhangers the way Victorian readers felt them, is a rare opportunity. I wanted to honour the material and make it feel alive for new audiences today.”
The production brings to Noiser’s catalogue a fully realised audio series developed with creative ambition and rooted in one of the most beloved works of English literature. It features an original score, special artwork, and immersive sound design that brings the fog-shrouded moors of Dartmoor to life.
Katrina Hughes, Executive Producer at Noiser, said: “125 years on, this story still has the power to stop you cold, which tells you everything about why it’s a classic. We wanted to mark the anniversary of The Hound of the Baskervilles with a production that truly rose to the occasion. Hugh and the whole team have made something that feels genuinely alive, and we can’t wait for you to hear it.”
Available free on all podcast platforms including Apple, Spotify, and ad-free on BBC Sounds, The Hound of the Baskervilles launches on the Sherlock Holmes Short Stories podcast feed beginning April 27 and releases twice weekly. Noiser+ subscribers will receive early access to episodes ahead of the general public release, including access to Episode 1 on April 23.
