SiriusXM’s multi-year extension with Comedy Bang! Bang!

July 25, 2024

SiriusXM today announced a multi-year extension with one of its most beloved and longest-running podcasts: “Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast,” the improvisational interview show hosted by writer and comedian Scott Aukerman.

The two-year agreement keeps “Comedy Bang! Bang!” at Earwolf, SiriusXM’s comedy podcast studio, where it will continue to be produced and distributed. Additionally, the show will begin to release weekly Bonus Bang episodes, consisting of classic “Comedy Bang! Bang!” episodes previously behind the CBB World paywall. SiriusXM Media, the combined advertising sales group of Sirius XM Holdings Inc., will maintain exclusive global ad sales rights to the podcast.

On each episode of “Comedy Bang! Bang!,” host Scott Aukerman interviews a celebrity guest, while leaving the show’s door open to an assortment of eccentric oddballs and characters who pop by at any moment to chat, compete in games, and engage in comic revelry. Frequent guests include Paul F. Tompkins, Jason Mantzoukas, Lauren Lapkus, Adam Scott, Ego Nwodim, Bob Odenkirk, and more.

Since launching in 2009, “Comedy Bang! Bang!” has built a large and dedicated fanbase. The podcast is downloaded over 10 million times per year, has sold over a half a million dollars in merchandise to date, and is currently on a 30-city international tour. The concept has spun off into a popular TV series by the same name that ran for five seasons, as well as a New York Times best-selling book called Comedy Bang! Bang! The Podcast: The Book.

“I’ve been doing the show for fifteen years, and hope it becomes the longest-running podcast of all time,” said Scott Aukerman. “I am calling upon my competitors who started before me and BEGGING them to stop doing theirs so I can achieve this goal. Radiolab, I’m looking at you. Hang it up!”

“For the past 15 years, ‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’ has been the gold standard for what a great comedy podcast should be,” said Sarah van Mosel, SVP of Podcast Strategy at SiriusXM. “By giving incredible improvisors the space to do what they do best, the show helped launch not just a network, but an entire genre. We’re thrilled that Scott and team will continue to call SiriusXM home, and look forward to bringing listeners more from Intern Gino, the Batmin, Fred Guiness, Tony Sony, and more.”

New episodes of “Comedy Bang! Bang!” will continue to be available every Monday on the SiriusXM app and all major listening platforms. Bonus Bang episodes will be released every Thursday in the podcast’s feed.
