The Giant Ideas Podcast: Where World Leaders Share the Stories Behind the Ideas That Bent History

The Giant Ideas Podcast: Where World Leaders Share the Stories Behind the Ideas That Bent History

Giant Ventures

February 23, 2026

Giant Ideas brings listeners behind the scenes of the ideas shaping the world, and shares the inspiring stories of leaders behind them.

Hosted by global venture capital firm Giant Ventures co-founders Cameron McLain and Tommy Stadlen, Giant Ideas features in-depth conversations with global leaders across technology, politics, science, business, and culture.

Notable guests in the past have included Ray Dalio, the Founder of Bridgewater Associates, Arianna Huffington, Founder of Huffington Post & Thrive Global, and Covid vaccine pioneer Bob Langer, an MIT Professor & Co-founder of Moderna.

The podcast has become a platform not just for discussing the ideas shaping the world, but also to discuss the human side of leadership: how people make decisions under pressure, navigate moments of doubt, failure, and fear, and how to succeed. Ultimately, Giant Ideas explores the ideas shaping our world, and asks the people behind them: why you?

The podcast is built around a distinctive two-episode format: each guest conversation is released as a paired series. The first episode focuses on the giant idea they’ve built or led, and the second explores the person behind the idea, and the wisdom they’ve learnt, offering a rare glimpse at the experiences, values, and personal sacrifice that is required to truly bend the course of history.

By separating each conversation into an ideas-focused episode and a deeply personal follow-up, Giant Ideas offers listeners something rare in long-form audio: both intellectual depth and emotional honesty with guest conversations that are rarely heard elsewhere.

Leadership, Power, and the Human Cost of Decision-Making

In February, Giant Ideas will release two major guest episodes featuring former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and former UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, each spanning two episodes released back-to-back.

Ardern’s conversation will explore her philosophy of empathetic leadership, crisis decision-making, and the pressures of governing through moments of profound national trauma — from the Christchurch attacks to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second episode turns inward, reflecting on her upbringing, motivations, motherhood while in office, the realities of burnout, and what it means to step away from power on one’s own terms.

Clegg instead examines the intersection of democracy, technology, and global power, drawing on his experience at the very top of British government and later leadership roles in Silicon Valley – as Meta’s President for Global Affairs. Across the two conversations, he reflects on political failure and resilience, leadership under relentless scrutiny, family life in public office, and how technological change is reshaping society, governance, and individual well-being.

Giant Ideas is available on all major podcast platforms.
