The Independent Podcast Awards 2026 Are Open For Entry!
– this will be the fourth edition of the awards
– over 1400 podcasts have entered over the years, with nearly 100 winners celebrated
London, April 2026: The Independent Podcast Awards 2026 are now open for entry at independentpodcastawards.com. This is the fourth edition of the awards, which were co-founded by Verbal Diorama and whynow in 2023 to celebrate those podcasts made in backrooms, in their creator’s spare time and without the pressures of upsetting sponsors along the way.
Since then the awards have attracted more than 1400 entries, shortlisted 500+ podcasts, and celebrated 75 winners.
Last year the overall Independent Podcast of the Year crown went to Shelley & The Can Do Kids, hosted by Josie Taylor and Jemma Morphet, who also won Children & Young Adult Podcast of the Year.
Emma Turner, Co-Founder of the Independent Podcast Awards said: “These awards were designed to celebrate the smaller indie shows that make up around 75% of the podcast industry in the UK. Many people may think that their show isn’t good enough to win an award, and they’re exactly the people we want to enter. We’re here to shine a light on the indies making great content in a big pool.”
This year there are 28 categories to choose from, including two new ones for 2026: Best Regional Podcast and Best Limited Series. As the names suggest, the search is on for the best podcast that celebrates life outside the big cities, and also those that were able to tell a story in just a few episodes.
The team is looking for judges to help with the huge task of whittling down the entries to the nominees and winners. If you would like to put yourself forward to be a judge, or you’d like more information about judging, then get in touch.
As always, events like this couldn’t take place without the support of the industry, and already signed up to this year’s event are: Acast, Advertising Week Europe, Kings Place, Podnews and Rusty Quill.
The closing date for entries is Monday 8th June, leaving plenty of time for people to get their entries submitted. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday 4th November at Kings Place in Kings Cross, London. All the details about the show will be released nearer the time.
