About Chené Lawson

Chené Lawson is a Webby Award–winning writer and professional actress from Chicago. An alum of The Groundlings Theatre in Los Angeles, she trained in sketch writing and character development with Academy Award–winning screenwriter Jim Rash as part of The Sunday Company. Lawson has written several screenplays, including one recognized at the 2021 HollyShorts Film Festival.

She recently adapted three-time Hugo Award winner N.K. Jemisin’s short stories from How Long ’Til Black Future Month into the Audible Original audiobook Amorph. Lawson is also the creator and writer of the genre-bending, Afrofuturistic podcast series All Things Undone, which debuted at #1 on Apple Podcasts’ Sci-Fi charts and poses the question, “What if Black people couldn’t have been killed during the time of slavery in America?” It launched on Audible Originals in September 2025.

This fall, Lawson will participate in a panel discussion as a speaker at Audible’s Unmuted: Black Voices Amplifying Audios New Frontier, where she will discuss the creative process behind the making of her genre-bending Audible Originals podcasts that are urgent, personal, and uniquely connected to the world and time we’re living in.

CultureCon, often called “the ultimate creative homecoming,” brings together innovators from film, television, literature, music, and tech for a weekend of thought-provoking panels, networking, and celebration. Lawson’s participation highlights her commitment to uplifting diverse voices and inspiring the next generation of storytellers.

“I’m thrilled to be part of CultureCon this year,” said Lawson. “This is where creativity and culture collide, and it’s so important to share space with other artists who are pushing boundaries and telling necessary stories.”
