What’s a moment in your career that shaped how you approach podcasting?
When other podcasters wanted to join a network that we hadn’t invented yet. It was the moment we realized we were more than just a podcast.
What’s an under-discussed challenge currently faced by your section of podcasting (e.g. production, ad operations, sales, marketing)?
Marketing a podcast is always difficult without significant resources. Socials are not enough to break up the constant top pods.
What’s your favorite piece of podcast research, and why?
Rocks Backpages because it is targeted to our subject.
If you had to build a podcast production/monetization/marketing strategy from scratch today, what’s the first thing you’d focus on?
Own your own distribution platform.

What’s a piece of advice you’d give someone looking to break into the business side of podcasting?
Realize podcasting is just one part of the new media revolution.
